Wife of Night

Silent like a willow's plea,
A single leaf falls.
Daftly she slips through the winds,
Dancing with the lonely night.

Moments pass as years,
Halting now and then
To look back
And watch the flowers bloom.

Her one chance to take wing
And soar like swallows through the clouds -
Thrown into the murky waters
To light a candle among the dark.
